Over the weekend Samsung Gear Live received the Android 4.4W.1 update and joins Moto 360. Users report the latter device received the update first and then Samsung’s smartwatch shortly after. Google sent the update out over-the-air, although some people reported they needed to manually check Android for the 4.4W.1 update.
You will find a few changes in this new version. The main benefits include a better experience when using voice action and while using navigation. The comments from officials spoke about “improved experience”, although no more insight was given, so feel free to leave a comment with how your smartwatch is performing after the update.
Do you have another Android Wear smartwatch that received this update? If not, then what device do you want to see the update on next?
Google recently gave a little insight into the future of Android Wear updates on their blog. They spoke about what will be next in the “coming months” that could be October and November. They will be bringing GPS support and offline music playback in the next Android Wear update, which will allow you to listen to music via Bluetooth headphones and track your distance traveled if you have a GPS sensor inside your smartwatch.
The second update expected later in 2014 should bring watch faces that you can download. This will certainly add some custom styling to your choice of smartwatch, and also allow you to see the information most important to you on the home screen. Developers will soon be sharing watch faces with Android Wear devices on Google play.
