Android 2.3 Gingerbread: Verizon Update Hints

We have some good news for those of you with a handset on Verizon now, as we have been hearing about a few hints with regards to future Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates, the new software which Google recently unveiled.

As you are probably aware, the Samsung Nexus S is the first handset which will come pre-loaded with Gingerbread, but unfortunately for Verizon users, that handset is exclusive to T-Mobile.

The good news though, is that popular handsets such as the Motorola Droid X and Droid Incredible are almost certain to receive an update to Gingerbread, but the big question is – when?

A new document obtained by Droid-Life has revealed that Verizon are currently in the midst of deciding which of their current smartphones will receive the update, and which ones will be left off the list. On a slightly disappointing note, it looks like Verizon will be rolling out their Gingerbread update in the coming ‘months’, rather than weeks according to the document.

You can read the document in full over at Droid-Life. In the meantime, we’ll do our job and let you know further information on Verizon handset upgrades as soon as we get it. Let us know which handset you have on Verizon, and your own predictions on a possible Gingerbread update.
