Amazon Tablet PC to lead a whole host of low cost devices

While the iPad may dominate the tablet market, not everyone can afford to purchase the device no matter how good it is. Recently we saw the fire sales of the HP TouchPad that led to lots of consumers rushing out to snap one up, which just shows there are many who want a tablet but not maybe at the price levels that some devices are at. Now it is believed that the Amazon Tablet PC will lead a whole host of low cost devices coming to the market.

According to an article on Compterworld analysts are suggesting there will be a flood of devices priced between $200 and $300 becoming available in the coming months. The Amazon Tablet is thought to be priced around $299 and is expected to be the biggest success.

Running the Android OS it is expected to be released sometime next month, and selling for $200 less than what the iPad 2 starts at, and is the main reason why it is expected to do well. The 9-inch device is thought to be a contender to sell well because Amazon could also offer content that even exceeds that of the iPad.

This is where Amazon can make their money on the device and compensate for any loss made selling the tablet for below cost price. Amazon also has its own app store, which offers everything from music and movies to books.

Other devices that are coming to the market include the recently announced Lenovo IdeaPad A1, which is set to be priced at $199. The 7-inch device will be the cheapest Android tablet available from a major manufacturer. There is also the original Samsung Galaxy Tab that is currently priced at $279.99 on Amazon, and could fall further now its replacement has been announced.

Some have wondered what the new Toshiba AT200 will be priced at, which will be running Android Honeycomb. Other manufacturers are believed to be thinking of dropping prices for their tablet PCs over the coming months to generate more interest in the market.

Like other tech markets prices start to drop as more products become available and technology advances. Are you thinking of buying a tablet PC soon? If so which one?
