We told you a few weeks ago that Amazon were planning to launch its own Android App Store sometime this month, and now it looks it could be happening tomorrow.
Brian X. Chen from Wired is that they have been told by a trusted source Amazon’s store will be opening tomorrow. The new store will be similar to the Apple iTunes Store as no applications will be allowed on to it until they have been reviewed. Currently the Android Market Place has an anything goes policy.
It has been reported recently that some applications went live on the Amazon site briefly, after being discovered by an Android user. The source has said users will be able to get apps through Amazon.com or through an application on their mobile devices.
Some people have voiced concerns that having an Amazon app as well as the official Android Market Place could lead to some confusion on the platform. But as there are Amazon payment systems in many different countries across the world, the new app store may be a serious threat to the app stores of Google and Apple.
Many believe that Amazon could offer lower priced applications, and exclusive content. The Android Market Place has never had that polished feel of the iTunes Store, but having some competition may push Google into making some welcome improvements.
Will you use the Amazon Android App Store?
