ALS mashup: Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar and Balotelli join others

The Ice Bucket Challenge videos for ALS seem to be moving away from sports stars and towards general public this week, although we wanted to feature a video mashup with some of the biggest names getting involved. These include Real Madrid’s Marcelo Vieira and Cristiano Ronaldo, FC Barcelona’s Neymar and Leo Messi, Liverpool FC’s Mario Balotelli, and many more since this viral campaign began.

We should also mention Angel Di Maria got nominated for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge around 6 days ago and while the video below contains many football players getting involved, Di Maria is yet to support ALS with an Ice Bucket. Maybe he’s been busy with the Manchester United transfer.

It is great to see all these big names getting involved in this charity event that went viral a couple of weeks ago, and of course their millions of followers loved the videos being shared on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

In fact, these football players brought a lot of attention to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge with around 50 million Twitter followers from just the names mentioned, although there’s followers in their hundreds of millions from all the players featured in the video. Ronaldo currently has 29.3m followers on Twitter, Balotelli has 2.96m, Marcelo Vieira has 3.22m, Neymar Jr. has 14m, and Messi won’t be starting his official Twitter account until later in 2014, but he currently has 6.6m on Instagram.

What’s your thoughts on how the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge spread throughout sports stars and celebrities around the world? Also, has your family and friends got involved?

While it’s great seeing these Barcelona, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and many other football clubs taking part, did you wish to see any other players take the challenge still? Take a look at the YouTube video below, and then let us know if you have a favorite so far.
