Aleratec’s 1:1 HDD PortaCruiser: Portable HDD Duplicator

If you have to clone hard disks on a regular basis you will probably know how annoying it can be to open up your case, ensure you have the correct jumper settings and connect to preferably separate IDE channels.

A new device from Alertec aims to make this process a lot easier, you simply plug-in in both drives into an individual device called the “HDD PortaCruiser” ensure you are copying to the correct drive and press copy.

This device is apparently compatible with 2.5″ and 3.5″ SATA I/II drives and will also clone IDE drives (however this will require IDE and power molex cables).

The device can also act as a USB 2.0 RAID controller, this allows you to configure RAID in RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD (Spanning) and normal configurations.

This device is currently available for $249.99, which may seem a like a lot but lets face it professional cloning software alone can set you back much more than this.
