If you are not keen on spending £429 on an iPad we may have come across a great alternative, this is the Advent Vega Internet Tablet.
This is an Android-based tablet which runs Google Android 2.2, it costs just £249.00 (here), therefore it is much more affordable than the Apple iPad, HP Slate and Samsung Galaxy Tab.
The tablet features an NVIDIA T20 Tegra 2 processor, a 10.1-inch touchscreen LCD display which supports a resolution of 1024 x 600, 512MB of NAND Flash Storage and it also comes with a 4GB microSD memory card.
Other specs worth mentioning include 1 x USB port, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, HDMI-out, a built-in webcam, a built-in microphone and a 2-cell battery, this battery allows for 16 hours of audio playback (with the LCD off) and 6.5 hours of video playback (1080p).
In terms of size and weight it is comparable to the iPad, it measures in at 275 x 178 x 13.6 mm and weighs approximately 700-750 grams.
I must admit that an Android tablet with such a low retail price is pretty tempting, obviously there is no 3G connectivity so it isn’t as versatile as the iPad and Galaxy Tab, however it would be great around the home/office.
Hopefully we will come across a hands-on video sometimes soon, if and when we do we will be sure to post it on Product-Reviews.
