The World Cup is now just a week away, therefore you would think everything is in place for what looks to be a great month of football, however we are hearing complaints about the most fundamental component, the ball.
Despite advanced engineering playing it’s part in the ball design, players have given the ball bad reviews, saying that it moves too quickly, also goalkeepers are complaining that the so called ‘Jubalani’ ball is “difficult to handle”.
Despite the complaints from the professional footballers, engineers claim that this ball is the most consistent football ever manufactured, it is made from just 8 pieces and features no stitches, instead it is glued together, making it a perfect sphere.
The engineers claim that their aim was to make a consistent ball, an unpredictable ball makes less skillful players look better than they are, whereas a more consistent ball allows skillful players to shine.
I’m sure within the first few days of the World Cup we will find out if the ball is a success or not, lets just hope that this ball doesn’t ruin your country’s World Cup hopes.
