When the iPhone was first introduced back in 2007 it was clear from the start that Apple never intended it to be about its camera, and it took several years before Apple acknowledged that the camera on its iPhone was being used by a huge percentage of people to share on social networks.
This was one of the reasons why the iPhone camera needed to improve, and the iPhone 5 and 5S are the best from Apple so far. Okay, so we know that its camera technology is still a long way off the likes of Sony and Nokia, but we already know that.
Being an iPhone 5 owner I know only too well how important it is to be able to get your phone out quick and then be able to take a photo with a steady hand. However, all iPhone owners know how tough this can be, although Apple did make things easier for iPhone owners with the ability to use the up volume button to take a picture instead of the touch button on the screen.
However, there are still times when this becomes awkward, especially as the volume button is too small to always hit it at the right moment.
There are a number of third-party iPhone accessories to help with this though, such as the AB Grip 2 shutter, which is a 2-in1 iPhone 5, 5S grip and shutter, which helps to improve photo capture.
We was sent a AB Grip 2 shutter to review and we will start by saying that the accessory is very simple in design and is also very light as well and so feels a little cheap when held on its own in your hand. However, it doesn’t need to be heavy because it is used to clip onto your iPhone 5 or 5S, and so doesn’t add any unnecessary weight.
You can see by the images that the there is not much to the design of this small plastic device, but it is its simplicity that we like. We know there are alternatives on the market, but they are also far more expensive.
Attaching the AB Grip 2 to your iPhone 5,5S is very simple because all you have to do is plug it into the phone jack. The moment you do that your phone becomes much easier to hold when taking photos, although only in landscape mode.
With the accessory connected you will notice just how easier it is to take landscape photos because of it being more comfortable to hold in the hand. It starts to feel a little more like a compact camera. However, when taking images in portrait the phone feels strange to hold, although with a bit of getting used too, it will be fine.
The large shutter button is the star on this accessory because there is no way you can ever miss it when taking an image, unlike the small button on the side of the iPhone5, 5S or the touch button.
Seeing as though this is just a simple iPhone accessory there is not that much more to say, although we will tell you that at $8.95 from AllPuter, it is considered a bit of a bargain.
