The 2017 Ford Fiesta was revealed yesterday, and we now know that there are to be four variants, two that are already well known within the Ford lineup, the Titanium and ST-Line, and the other two are new, which are the Active and Vignale.
It’s the latter two that we are more interested in because there is the possibility that we could see them appear in other model lineups, and so you might actually see a new Ford Focus Active and Vignale. We say this because Ford’s European boss Jim Farley said that if they prove a success, then other models from the range could also benefit from the new variants.
Autocar reports that Farely is most interested in how the public take to the Active variant, although if he was to read some of the comments coming in, it might already be getting a general idea of the answer. This is due to the fact that while Ford would have you believe the Fiesta Active is a radial change, other companies already have such variants and so Ford is not offering anything special – if anything they are going backwards.
This is because Ford tried something very similar in the past with the Fusion, which was said to be an Urban Activity Vehicle that was catered more towards sporty twenty-somethings – and look what happened to that.
However, as for Ford Focus Vignale, there has not been a great deal of talk on that variant, and therefore we can only assume that people might actual welcome this one. We would be interested to know what your thoughts are on this variant.
For your information the Active has the look of an SUV and so offers a higher ride height with more ground clearance, while the Vignale comes with a higher spec makeover. Full details on the new Fiesta can be found HERE.
