64 bit iPad 5 and mini 2 more impressive

We knew that the iPhone 5S was to sport the new A7 chip, but what we did not know was that it would make the jump from 32 bit to 64-bit, which is the first smartphone to do so. It is not known if this will be the start of a new shift in the mobile phone market, or just something of a gimmick.

Having said that, we do believe it is more of a gimmick on the iPhone 5S in terms of supposed improved gaming because you cannot truly immerse yourself in a game on such small device, although we are sure there will be other benefits.

With all built-in iOS 7 apps being optimized for 64 bit it does make us look to next month. Just consider a 64-bit iPad 5 and mini 2, as we believe these will be far more impressive.

At some stage in the next few days there are bound to be some comments from Samsung and other Apple rivals saying what is the point of having 64-bit graphics on the iPhone 5S when you cannot take full advantage of the feature.

However, if Apple were to include the A7 chip with 64-bit graphics in the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 next month, then this could give rival devices something to think about and force the likes of Samsung to rethink their future chips.

If this were to happen then we could see iPad 5 graphics with details that we have come to expect on Macs and PCs. We do hope to see this on the iPad mini 2nd generation, but they could do what they did last year and use an older chip to try and reduce costs, although we cannot see this being the case this time.
