4 Ice Cream Sandwich images leaked, details listed

News on Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich OS seems to be hotting up now since we learned that Google could be rushing its release. Now we have some more details of the upcoming operating system, as well as 4 images being leaked online. There are some skeptics who do not think that these screenshots are the real deal, but we are being informed that they are, so up to you to decide.

The four leaked screenshots were sent to two different sources, the first is RootzWiki and the other is Android Police. From what we can see they are running on the Nexus S, so could we see the handset getting the update soon? Well there seems to be some confliction here, as one moment we are hearing that ICS will be rushed out, then next we are being told that it will not be out this month or next — so who should we believe?

Looking at the images we can see a number of user interface changes, the first is with the blue screen, and the second is with notification, as that has not been revamped since Éclair was released. There is still one thing we are uncertain off, and that is its build number; some suggest that it will be 2.4, while others say 4.0, but Google has yet to officially announce what build number they will be giving Ice Cream Sandwich.

So what other details can we learn from these images? In the app drawer you will see a new launcher, and on the homescreen there looks to be a task switcher icon, although this is still not certain. To help fit the design of the new OS it is thought that Gmail will now get a totally new theme, but it is the panorama mode camera upgrade that has us a little excited.

Both the Nexus S and Nexus Prime will be receiving the update, but it will be the latter who gets to implement Ice Cream Sandwich first — which is a surprise to some. What we like about this new update is how some of the older Android handsets will be able to run it, something that has not been possible with Gingerbread.

We are sorry that there isn’t anything juicy to sink your teeth into here, but at least we are now getting to see some of the first images of ICS — let’s hope that there will be more to follow?
