We have been waiting for more 2017 BMW 5 Series details to be shared with us, and thankfully, BMW has finally revealed more information of the seventh-generation of this sedan. These include its reveal date, which will be in the second-half of 2016, specs and also the engine line-up.
If you were hoping for details on the 2017 BMW 5 Series price, then we are afraid this information has yet to be revealed. So now, we thought we would take a closer look at the 2017 BMW 5 Series engines for the UK market.
BMW is to make use of their latest versions of the B47 diesel and B48 petrol four-cylinder powerplants. All of these will be 2-liter versions, although there are larger units available as well.
An example are those new B47 diesel and B48 petrol four-cylinder units, and because they have 500cc per cylinder, this means an overall volume of 3.0 liters. However, if you want something that is more refined, then the 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine straight from the 750i produces 444 horsepower.
Still want more, then you could always opt for the six-cylinder B57 diesel, which is helped out with a quad-turbocharger system. This is a 3.0-liter unit and can produce 376bhp, along with 545lb ft of torque.
Other engine options will be the plug-in petrol-electric powertrain and a new 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine, which is due to be unveiled during the 2017 Geneva Motor show, which is just before the new BMW 5-Series is set to go on sale in the UK.
