Concerns for budget iPhone release in 2017

By Peter Chubb - Nov 7, 2016

Apple haters were quick enough to condemn the iPhone SE when is was released in March of this year, although like so many times before, seemed to have proven those haters wrong. Sales of the cheaper iPhone has proved very positive indeed, so much so that people already started to talk about the second generation SE model.

However, there is some concern in terms of a new budget phone being released in 2017, as it’s not certain at this time if Apple is actually working on one or not.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, who we know has a pretty good track record with such things, believes that Apple might not refresh the iPhone SE. One of the reasons for this is due to the fact that Apple wants to keep margins high for the high-end iPhone models.

However, this does not mean Apple will not offer a 2nd-gen iPhone SE, just that it’s highly unlikely to be in early 2017 like the current gen this year. Maybe Apple is planning a very special event for next September to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, and so we could see a new 4-inch model, 4.7- a rumoured 5-inch model and also the larger 5.5=inch model?
