Latest BMW and Kia recalls begin in July

Both BMW and Kia recently announced recalls for three of their vehicles, the X5, X6 and Sedona. We thought it was time we reminded you of this fact because BMW is to start theirs on July 1, with Kia set to begin the recall for affected owners on July 26, 2016.

Both of these recalls are for very different things, although it was Car Recalls US that shared details of these just as a gentle reminder for those affected owners.

So let’s look into the BMW issue first. This is for the X5 and X6 with different manufacturing dates, which pretty much starts from April 5, 2010 through to November 20, 2010. Ok, the dates do vary for affected models; speaking of which consists of the X5 xDrive 35i, xDrive50i, X5 M, X6 xDrive35i, X6 xDrive50i, X6 M, and the X5 xDrive35d diesel.

The reason for the recall is due to an issue with the front driveshaft universal joint seal, which could let in water and debris. In all 21,493 units are being recalled next month.

2012 Kia Sedona july recall

Next we have the Kia Sedona recall for those models built from June 15, 2005, to August 14, 2012. In all there are to be 97,884 units recalled because of a fault with the lower control arm.

There is a fear that these control arms could corrode in states that use salt on their roads. As a precaution Kia will either add a protective coating, or replace the component completely.
