With the excitement this week regarding new PS4 and Xbox One consoles, we wanted to now gather your thoughts on which system would be best to upgrade to since you could face a difficult decision this fall.
To recap, there are strong rumors that Sony are bringing a new 4K console to the table, codenamed NEO which will have more RAM, also more CPU and GPU power accessible to developers.
It could support a resolution of 3840 X 2160, which would offer Ultra HD rather than true 4K natively at 4096 x 2160. That would mean that those who have all bought an Ultra HD TV can play games in the new resolution and won’t have to worry about not being able to support a native 4K image.
Meanwhile, we’ve just heard that Microsoft also has a secret new Xbox in the works too. FCC documents have revealed a new Xbox One wireless chip in prototype form, which has conveniently been made public after Sony’s 4K rumors surfaced in the same timeframe.
That tells us that E3 could have massive reveals for both sets of fans. Presuming that Sony and Microsoft will both offer a PS4 slim and an Xbox One slim console in 2016 respectively – which one would you buy?
We are still in the world of platform exclusives, so would you switch allegiance this time around? One example, Sony now has exclusivity on Call of Duty, while Microsoft has an exclusive agreement with EA for content across various games.
We know that many of you are desperate to own a smaller version of the PS4 or Xbox One, so which one would you buy if given the choice and could only afford one?
There may even be a scenario where Microsoft uses their Slim console as a replacement for the Xbox One and keeps it the same price making the upgrade process a very smooth one rather than have two versions of the Xbox, which Sony may be doing with the PS4 and a PS4 ‘NEO’ selling side by side.
Give us your thoughts on this and let us know where your money would go.
