First 802.11ad, WiGig WiFi laptop is from Acer

Acer is the first company to release a 802.11ad WiFi laptop, which is called the TravelMate P648 and is targeted more towards business users.

While there are several decent features to this laptop, there is no denying that the standout one is the support for 802.11ad wireless, which many of you will know as WiGig.

What’s the difference with WiGig over standard WiFi? 802.11ad is more of a short-distance WiFi standard capable of supporting speeds up to 4.6Gbps. There is one downside, there are not many products that can support 802.11ad at the moment.
