The 2016 New York Auto Show is already under way for the press and it’s always the concept cars that grab a huge amount of attention. This is the perfect opportunity for these carmakers to show the industry what they have planned, and while many of them will look very different to their final production models, it’s good to get an idea of what’s planned for the future.
While we don’t have a great deal of information for you right now, we do have what we believe to be the best New York Auto Show concepts for 2016.
First up we have the Navigator Concept, which finally made its debut today during the car show, and gives us a good idea as to the direction Lincoln will go in with their full-size luxury SUV. You can see a few hints of Tesla Model X creating in, although we do have to favor the Tesla more because of its understated looks. It’s as though the Navigator Concept tries just that bit too hard to stand out and be different.
Next we have the Genesis from Hyundai and will show off several design features that we are certain will find their way into upcoming Hyundai vehicles. We have seen this company go a long way in just a few short years, and the Genesis shows just how the Korean company are able to take the fight to the big boys when it comes to quality build and design.
You might also wish to look out for the Nissan Mobility Concept, which will get some heads turning because of how quirky it is. However, it’s very similar to the Renault Twizy. This might not be big news for those of us in Europe, but if you are in the US, then this is the first time you will be able to get your hands on one of these, hence why it has been rebadged as the Nissan Mobility Concept.
The Toyota C-HR will also be on show at New York today, but still only as a concept model. The model being shown is not what the final production model will be like, and so more like a re-badged version of Scion C-HR Concept that we saw back in 2015.
Finally, there is also the all-new Toyota Prius concept to look forward to. We already know that it is to get a heavily revised rear-end, and so we can only assume that other areas of its exterior will come with changes as well.
We are sure there will be other concept cars revealed today during the New York Auto Show, but what is it that you are looking forward to seeing once the doors open to the public this Friday?
