2016 MX-5 Miata price and engine

There is a lot of excitement in the air for auto fans, after the amazing reveal of the 2016 MX-5 Miata. Naturally, fans are now eager to find out the 2016 Miata price and whether or not there are plans for Mazda to spring a surprise with a 2016 MX-5 Miata Coupe variant.

We now have some lovely images to show you of Mazda’s new baby, as well as what looks to be the first official 2016 MX-5 Miata engine picture. We also have the full event replay, for anyone who missed the live video reveal from Mazda since they streamed it live.

You’ll be pleased to know that Mazda is going to be incorporating the Roadster SkyActiv package into the 2016 Miata and you can see the first image of the car under the hood, courtesy of Autoweek.

Based on the gear below, we could be seeing either a 2.0 liter Skyactiv-G engine offered in low-end Mazda3 and CX-5 models, or a move to the 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G found in other models.

With 155 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque powering the 2.0-liter, we think that will be sufficient for most car enthusiasts looking to pick up this new roadster.

Obviously the big stumbling block could be the asking price. Mazda hasn’t revealed an official price yet of course, but consumers should expect to pay anything from $24,765 as a starting price and higher.

This was the price for the 2015 Mazda MX-5 series don’t forget, so it will be interesting to see if Mazda will keep pricing the same, or increase slightly to move in line with current market prices.

What are your immediate price expectations for the new 2016 Miata from Mazda? Will you be willing to pay over $30,000 if Mazda decide to significantly raise the costs?

Enjoy the images of the engine, front and back here and don’t forget to check out the reveal video below. Is this the new car of your dreams?
