Seiki 55-inch SE55FGT confused with SE55GY19 reviews

By Peter Chubb - Nov 24, 2015

There are so many budget TV brands out there, many if which have very similar specs and features. They are unlike LG and Samsung, as they have different technology to help improve picture quality. However, the likes of Seiki rely on just the basic TV features, although they do try their best to come up with a few gimmicks to try to increase sales.

In previous months one of the more popular models was the Seiki 55 1080p LED Streaming HDTV, as this is one of the brands budget models, and while it does not come with 4K support, for some of you, 1080p is still enough.

This model is currently out of stock in the stores that usually sell this model, such a hhgreeg. While we know that this is now an older model, we have a feeling that some fresh stock will come in, ready for this weeks sales. It is for this reason why some of you will be wanting to read over some Seiki 55-inch SE55FGT reviews. However, there doesn’t seem to be any, although some consumers have gotten confused with Seiki SE55GY19 reviews, as they have been going to Amazon by mistake for the review, only to find it is the wrong model.

It’s an easy mistake to make, as we almost did the same thing, especially as the specs are almost identical. It is worth noting that this also looks to be an older model, as the only 55-inch Streaming model as it is called is the SE55UET on the Seiki website. There is also a much-improved feature though, and that is the jump to 4K UHD.

Anyway, let’s get back on track and look over those Seiki 55-inch SE55FGT specs. The 55-inch screen comes with Full HD, 1080p, and a 1920 x 1080 resolution. It also has a 60Hz refresh rate, a response time of 6.5 milliseconds and 200-250 cd/m² brightness and a 3200 to 4000:1 Dynamic Contrast ratio.

However, the best features has to be built-in WiFi and access to streaming channels, such as Netflix and Youtube. This might not be the best budget TV out there, but we are sure its price will make you consider it as an option.

I bought a SEIKI SE55FGT last December (2015) here in May, it is totally unusable. You have to unplug it and once plugged back in, it just comes to the SEIKI logo and that’s it. I can’t even turn it off with either the remote of the controls on the TV. Totally unresponsive. SEIKI says send it back, have you looked into the cost of sending a TV to California. For one thing a box will cost in the neighborhood of $100 (because who can keep a box of that size for more than 30 days). So all said and done it will cost about 50% the cost of the TV just to send it back.
I’d never buy another one. It was a great TV while it worked but kind of useless now.
I wouldn’t buy one if I were you.

My neighbor just bought this (his first flat screen), almost on impulse. Hope he won’t regret it.
