Minecraft Wii U Edition release date wait after drama

By Alan Ng - Nov 13, 2015

It’s fair to say that there has been a lot of Minecraft drama building up over the last 24 hours. If you have been keeping an eye on developments, you’ll know that a Minecraft Wii U Edition release date was shockingly scheduled for this week but unfortunately fans have yet again been dealt another dagger to the heart.

To recap, ratings website PEGI apparently leaked information in advance that Minecraft Wii U Edition was cleared for launch on November 12.

A screenshot was picked up over at Neogaf which ignited a barrage of excitement from fans on social media who were convinced that this could be the surprise announcement at Nintendo’s Direct 11.12.15 broadcast.

However, as we now know the broadcast has ended and there was no confirmation of a Minecraft Wii U Edition release date – since the big surprise turned out to be Cloud as a playable character in Super Smash Bros.

What happened then? Was the PEGI details simply faked, or is Nintendo not ready to reveal this information publicly yet?

Remember that Mojang is now owned by Microsoft and many thought that this would mean the end of Wii U Minecraft hopes – however the PEGI rating reveal suggests otherwise.

We know that Nintendo has another Nintendo Direct for December 2015 lined up, so will we finally get the confirmation then?

Let us know if you, like many others believed that Minecraft would be announced at the Direct event hours ago. Are you feeling sad right now to have those hopes dashed yet again?

Nintendo should show us the NX yet. It’s rubbish from their end to not give us any clue about it, I don’t see my self or anybody, buying a WiiU just to find out 3 months later that the NX will be able to play Wii/WiiU and the NX games on one console. That would be a real waste, I would prefer to have the latest greatest than to shell ou 300 $ for something that will be outdated soon, but I so much love Nintendo Products.. this is very upsetting me and many customers.
