We are certainly being treated this week in terms of new product releases, as the new Apple TV was made available to order yesterday, and today is the turn of the Surface Pro 4 from Microsoft. However, before you get too excited, we have to inform you that there are one or two limitations when it comes to some of the configuration choices today.
If you were looking to buy the Surface Pro 4 Intel Core i7 version with the massive 16GB of RAM, then we are afraid to inform you that shipping for that particular model will not start until November 20, which is just over 3 weeks time.
That’s not the only disappointment, as the i5 CPU version with 16GB of memory is not an option at this moment, although Microsoft has said that they are to offer one of these down the line – but no timeline has been given.
What’s even more annoying is how the Surface Book also has its limitations in terms of available models. Some of the high-end models were meant to be available right now, yet Microsoft has said some of them will have to be delayed by up to 7 weeks. One example is the 1 TB Surface Book version with 16GB and an Nvidia GPU, as this will not start shipping until January 2016.
We also looked at the model with the discret graphics card last week, and that is not yet available either – not a great start for Microsoft with these new products.
