The next Destiny PS4 game update is 1.17 and it went live yesterday after both scheduled maintenance, and a change in version due to jumping from 1.15 to 1.17 on the PlayStation 4 system.
Heading to most Bungie pages yesterday revealed the developers were going to be “pushing a patch live”, so when the servers returned you were able to login “after installing the patch”.
This is known officially as the Destiny 2.0.1 patch for all online platforms, so feel free to take a look at the multiple system patch notes. On PS4, this was Destiny update 1.17 in the end, as seen by clicking update history on the game icon.
As expected, we saw the Destiny PS4 update go live after 7PM BST, 11AM PDT, as this is when the servers came back up. As the Bungie “Service Warning” mentioned, after installing the patch you were able to login and start the Taken King Iron Banner at roughly the same time.
Tess Everis also appeared in the game with new Emotes thanks to Eververse Trading. This also included giving players the ability to do the “Carlton Dance”. If you had problems installing the Destiny 1.17 PS4 update once it was live, then leave a comment below.
Update: We have since heard about problems with PS4 users trying to install the 1.17 update, as it stays on “preparing to download for ages”. This is normal, but not for the length of time some people report and the download can also go very slow once preparing to download finishes.
