There’s always been a debate about what time Sony should schedule planned PSN maintenance and the October 13 downtime is one such example. PS4 and PS3 owners will need to sign into PSN before the Oct, 2015 maintenance start time or they will find a lot of problems getting online when servers are taken down.
This PSN maintenance has a start time of 9:30pm PDT and lands right in prime time for US gamers. In the UK and Europe, PSN will go down on Oct 14 at 4:40am GMT, and this is certainly favoring this part of the world. It’s fair to say not everyone can be happy with each schedule, although each time servers are taken offline you can count on people asking why it happened at the said scheduled time.
We have included the full statement revealed on the official PSN status page for the Oct 13 maintenance. This details when the servers will go down and when they will come back up for both timezones.
Are you happy with the PSN schedule for maintenance this week? The good news is downtime is only set for 2 hours, so as long as no other problems take place it won’t be lasting long. Exact details about what’s taking place won’t be listed, but we can see this routine maintenance is for “improvements” to the PlayStation Network.
As always, if you sign in just before PSN goes down then you can “still sign in, play games, or use most applications”. Sadly, you won’t be able to purchase from the PS Store, access PlayStation Video, or change settings in account management.
