Search Audi, VW models by VIN for emissions recall

By Peter Chubb - Oct 6, 2015

VW and Audi have created a simple, self-service website so that you can check to see if your model has been affected by the diesel engine emissions scandal. These recall checker tools are for the UK only, allowing owners to finally put their minds at ease.

These Audi and VW recall checker tools are very easy to use because if you think you have an affected model, then just enter your VIN and you will then be informed as to whether yours is included in the upcoming recall.

How to find your VIN – This is a very common question, and so you should find this at the front of your service book, or at the bottom, left-hand side of the windscreen. It should look similar to this (WVWZZZ1JZXW000010). Remember that the symbol with the line going through it is the number 0 and not the letter O.

What happens if you do have an affected model? You do not need to take any action yourself, as Audi or Volkswagen will contact you automatically. No details have been shared as to what the VW Group plan to do in order to resolve this issue, but we know that notices should start being received very shortly, and that cars should start to go back to dealers later this month to be fixed.

I have an Audi A3 2013 2 litre TDI yet the Audi recall check website says my car is unaffected. This is highly suspicious since my car is exactly what “should” be affected.

I’m glad it says its not but I dont believe it considering it ticks all the boxes for a car that is affected with the cheat software.
