Get Destiny Exotic Swords with Reforged Quest

By Alan Ng - Sep 16, 2015

Earlier on we told you how to get a sword in Destiny following on from the launch of The Taken King. For those that already have one, most of you will now be asking how to get an exotic sword in Destiny as if you didn’t know – those Legendary swords can be upgraded to an exotic one.

The three exotic swords in Destiny are the Raze Lighter, the Dark Drinker and the Bolt Caster – unlocked with the ‘A Sword Reforged’ quest in Destiny.

Right away we can see that many of you want to know how to get the Raze Lighter in Destiny, as this seems to be the most popular of the three since it deals out solar damage and comes with the unique ability Phoenix Uppercut.

The main steps that have been revealed via data mining suggests that players will need to wait until every Wednesday to place an order with the gunsmith.

Once done, then the key aspect into getting these exotic swords is to kill two bosses within 30 seconds each in order to obtaining either the Raze Lighter, the Dark Drinker or the Bolt Caster – depending on which Legendary version you have between the Arc Edge, Soul Edge or Void Edge.

For example, those wanting to unlock the Raze Lighter will need to beat Adleg, Warden of Oryx within 30 seconds and then do the same for Alak Hul – whom both will be waiting for you in the Dreadnaught.

Those looking to get the Dark Drinker exotic sword in Destiny will need to defeat Heolstor, Warden of Oryx and then Akal Hul within 30 seconds.

Finally, the Bolt Caster can be obtained by beating Thracu and then Alak Hul both within 30 seconds to seal your sword and upgrade it into its exotic form.

As far as we’re aware, nobody has managed to beat these bosses within 30 seconds yet but tell us how far you get below and your progress on this if you already are at this stage of the exotic sword quest in Destiny.

what you do is.. doing the light level 300 strike and get to the end boss. there you will met Alak, who you need to down his health low. by the time you guys trying to beat the boss, he will spawn 3 oryx with 3 arc shield, solar shield and void shield. so the weapon you have on NEEDS to kill that oryx, which means you have to lower his health also and run around getting the bosses health low. that way you can kill them both within 30sec and viola your new exotic swords is yours to claime 😉

i forgot to say who ever has what currently sword DONT need to have the rest around chasing you. EXAMPLE: you have the solar sword > means you can kill arc and void but LEAVE solar alone (with low health ofc). So if you have void sword > KEEP void oryx and if you have arc sword > KEEP arc oryx.

The Sword quest is hard but you can do it easily in a good fireteam…i have the arc blade sword now.

I think you have to kill the major linked to your part of the quest then kill the Dark Blade

lol it sounds impossible with less than 300 light, got this quest today =/

  • LaLa

They show up in a special 300light suncell strike there with alak-hul killed mine but killing alak-hull in 30s how the hell.

Alak-Hul is the endboss in the sunless strike & I have no idea where that other thing could be.

  • Rapala167

I would guess that it’s the court of orix ? As that’s the only place I’d think you’ll see both bosses

  • Chris Lee

Does anyone know where to find these bosses that are with Alak hul? Cuz i got no idea since they dont show up in the strike

  • Brady
