Windows 10 failing within Update and no notification

By Peter Chubb - Jul 29, 2015

Today is the day that Windows 10 is finally made available for download, although we are already hearing that things are not going smoothly for some of you with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 wishing to upgrade on July 29, 2015. The issues are mixed, although something like this was always going to happen, just as it always does on day 1 of a new update.

One Windows 10 installation issue that some Product Reviews readers are having, just as I did when trying to upgrade an old Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 was not being able to see the notification to install the update.

Windows 10 forced download

The most obvious was to run an update to make certain that everything was up-to-date on the system first, but it just keeps failing within Windows Update. We cannot be certain as to the reason, but we suspect that Windows servers are having issues, because all I keep getting is preparing to install, and it just does not go any further.

What many of you are confused about is the fact that your computer meets all the requirements, and all files have been downloaded on the computer on drive C.

If you are having Windows 10 update problems, then there are other ways to force the update, which is explained in detail here. However, it is not an easy process, and so maybe you should wait a few hours, or even a day or two until the Windows 10 hype has calmed down a little.

Finally, I have just managed to get my Windows 7 to download the latest updates, let’s hope I now see the Notification update to get Windows 10.
