Ello lifts iPhone restriction with new social network app

By Peter Chubb - Jun 18, 2015

If you ever wanted to experience the Ello social networking scene, then you could only view it via your phone’s mobile browser, as this alternative to Facebook never had its own app. However, that is all set to change today, June 18, 2015, as the Ello iPhone app will go live for download. The bad news is, the Ello Android and Windows versions will be released later this summer.

When the ad-free Ello social network was born it was very basic in its form, and many people thought it would not last, but here we are on the verge of its first app and we could be about to see the service finally blossom.

Engadget is able to offer some insight thanks to an early Ello social network iPhone app review, and are impressed with just how clean its users interface is. The design has not been overdone, choosing to go for a mixture of black and white, which is similar to their website.

The design – At the top there is a menu bar that offers five options, these are Notifications, Discover, your Friends, your own profile, Noise feeds and a compose screen. One feature that Ello hopes will help to spread the word is the Find & invite your friends, as this connects to the contacts stored on your iPhone, so that you can invite them.

With this app set to go live at some stage today, it will be interesting to see just how well it is received.
