The next Driveclub 1.16 update will go live today on PS4, as detailed over the weekend with a release time pinned for 5am EST, 2AM PT, and 10AM in the UK. This is when you should be able to download the new patch today, but this won’t be all that’s happening with the game thanks to server upgrades being scheduled for the same day.
We are hearing that Evolution Studios will be taking Driveclub servers down today for a period of time, which has been labeled as a “significant” upgrade to the servers that power this racing game.
You will notice server issues, or a total outage, if you are using the Challenges feature. It’s these servers that will be totally replaced for increased server performance and what they are calling, “better challenges”. This work is also said to help release the DriveClub PS Plus Edition, although nothing has been said in the way of a timescale.
The Driveclub 1.16 patch notes for Monday, June 1 2015 – once you install this update on your PS4 in just under 2 hours at the time of publication, you will notice reduced challenge notification spam thanks to optimized Invitation options, a new UI for The Challenge Menu, the Social Hub will see Challenge notifications integrated and the server upgrades will allow for an “unlimited number of participants”.
You will also see more Menus contain more of your favorite #PS4share pictures, the Challenge Menu including direct access to Evolution Studios Challenges, and technical improvements to server connectivity to ready Driveclub for its PS Plus Edition. You can read about the previous patch here, or discuss any problems you’re having below.
