Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Lollipop update sadness

By Alan Ng - May 11, 2015

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 who have been holding on to the hope of receiving an official Android Lollipop update may have just been dealt a huge blow.

Samsung’s Gulf wing has been posting some unfortunate information via their Facebook page, seemingly confirming that there will be no Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Lollipop update.

A recent reply to a user on the Facebook page can be seen below, stating that the tablet released two years ago won’t be updated to the latest version of Android.

There has been no statement from Samsung US or Samsung Europe regarding the same information, so the only hope that Note 8.0 users have to go on now – is hoping that the above Facebook message applies to those in the Gulf region only.

If not, it’s disappointing considering that Google can put Lollipop on older devices such as the Nexus 7, but Samsung can’t with the two-year old Note 8.0.

Hopefully we’ll have a positive update to share on this story later this week, but if you own this tablet and are still using it daily – give us your reaction to this.

Horrible news. So much for my premium tablet, which already feels crippled w/o the update. I actually contacted Samsung Support about this yesterday. Their response was garbage. All they could offer is… “we can’t speculate about updates”.

This is the very reason I hate Android. I have a Galaxy Note 8 and it will forever be stuck on Kit Kat. I’m sticking with real Windows tablets, not this ARM trash.
