Samsung tablets absent from Android 5.1 update forecast

Recent rumors would seem to suggest that Samsung has yet to start on its Android 5.1 update roadmap for 2015, although we do have reason to believe that there are plans, we just have yet to here them. Having said that, there have been reports of the first Samsung device to use the latest Lollipop update, and it is not a tablet.

A Reddit user would have us believe that he managed to grab a word with a Samsung representative, and it has been suggested that the first Sammy device to get Android 5.1 would be the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, although that’s really no surprise is it?

However, it was also said that the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 would also be one of the first Samsung smartphones to benefit from 5.1 – again, no real surprise.

Samsung tablet Android 5.1 update

What we do find a little strange is how there is a distinct absence of Samsung tablets from the Android 5.1 update forecast. Having said that, these devices are always slower than their handset siblings to get such updates, as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has only just received its Android 5.0.2 update.

With that being said, maybe Samsung feels that they would rather offer the 5.1 update to some of its upcoming tablets, which would make more sense? Two likely candidates are the 2015 Galaxy Pro 12.2 Edition & Note 10.1, which we had presumed to see by now, but have been kept waiting. Having said that, maybe Samsung is working on an all-new tablet, which they could likely reveal at its IFA event later this year?
