Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Network went down today without warning and they are looking into the problems on both consoles. PS4 and PS3 owners are reporting PSN is down on January 13 in their thousands, although the outage has moved to Jan 14 for those in the UK.
The situation is developing, so it’s unclear if PSN is down due to a DDOS or for other server related problems. There is some PSN maintenance due to take place at a scheduled time, although the Jan 13 downtime is unrelated to this plan.
We have heard from Product Reviews readers in Boston, New York, San Fransisco, and other US cities. Those in the UK still up playing in the early hours also report issues, especially within London and Bristol.
Are you having problems signing into the PlayStation Network today and if so, what error codes are you experiencing right now? One of the error codes happening right now is NW-31201-7, and as one commenter put “I can’t login to PSN, which gives error code NW-31201-7 when trying”.
We have seen this error a number of times in 2014 and especially with maintenance messages like in September of last year.
