FIFA 15 TOTY nominees reiterated in UT shortlist

- Jan 11, 2015

The FIFA 15 TOTY nominees were announced last month within an Ultimate Team shortlist and during the predictions taking place this weekend, it looks like some people have forgotten those that made the original cut. Today, we want to remind Product Reviews readers about the football players that could possibly make the real FIFA 15 UT TOTY tomorrow when the results are revealed.

Below our article looking at the FIFA 15 TOTY release time, taking place Monday Jan 12 2015, we noticed one of our readers saying “Luis Suarez won’t be in TOTY. He was never in the 12 forwards nominees”.

It’s not clear why the reader made such a statement when the full shortlist for forwards in FIFA FIFPro World XI and FIFA 15 TOTY included FC Barcelona’s Luis Suarez, Neymar, and Lionel Messi. There’s also Wayne Rooney, Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Marco Reus, Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Costa, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, and Sergio Aguero.

The midfielder shortlist includes Arturo Vidal, Yaya Toure, Bastian Schweinsteiger, James Rodriguez, Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Mesut Oezil, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Angel Di Maria, and Xabi Alonso.

In terms of goalkeepers nominated and making the shortlist you’ll find Gianluigi Buffon, Iker Casillas, Thibaut Courtois, Claudio Bravo, and Manuel Neuer.

Finally, the long list of defenders shortlisted for FIFA FIFPro World XI include Pablo Zabaleta, Raphael Varane, Thiago Silva, Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Pepe, Javier Mascherano, Marcelo, Philipp Lahm, Vincent Kompany, Branislav Ivanovic, Mats Hummels, Diego Godin, Filipe Luis, David Luiz, Daniel Carvajal, Jerome Boateng, Dani Alves, Jordi Alba, and David Alaba.

The FIFA 15 Team of the Year can be seen within the image above, which included players predicted to be in the FIFA World XI by their own expert. The names mentioned above in the FIFA 15 TOTY shortlist were all featured on last month, although the official team is revealed tomorrow on Jan 12, 2015.

We have featured two videos below this article that include the official FIFA FIFPro World XI shortlist for forwards and the FIFA 15 Ultimate Team TOTY prediction video featured on Twitter a few days ago. This includes predictions by Rio Ferdinand, Adebayo Akinfenwa, Kyle Walker, and Joey Barton.

Definitely disagree. Take out Suarez, Di Maria, Hummels, and Rodriguez. Suarez is an excellent player but between his vampirism and poor performance earlier in 14 I would be very surprised if he is the lead ST. Now to Di Maria with a mediocre world cup performance and riding the bench for United lately, I would also be quite surprised if he makes the squad. Furthermore, Hummels was excellent in the world cup but his clubs abysmal performances really does not allow him to stand out loss after loss. Lastly, Rodriguez does have a good shot at making the squad but honestly I believe that Kroos’s winning world cup performance and consistent maestro/longshot top class form for Madrid he has outclassed Rodriguez. Lastly, I would easily swap in Robben, Kroos & Boateng.
