2015 F-150 diesel lineup desired, hybrid has drawbacks

The most successful truck in the U.S. is the F Series and so Ford has been investing a huge some of money and time into keeping it that way. However, we do know its controversial move to go with an all-aluminum body may not have had the result Ford were been hoping for, as the expected fuel-economy savings were not as great as first thought.

This has to be one of the reasons why there is a strong possibility that we could see a Ford F-150 hybrid model, although a new diesel lineup seems to be the more desired powertrain.

2015 F-150 diesel lineup desired

When going down the Hybrid route you have to realize that there are sacrifices to be made, one of which is price. More often than not a hybrid vehicle is far more expensive than gasoline or diesel engine versions because of the batteries and other technology used.

Another reason that an Hybrid F-150 truck would be less desired is because those batteries would need to go somewhere, and the most likely place would be under the rear seats, meaning you would lose storage under those fold-up seats.

It is clear Ford would like to offer both, but we have seen time and again how diesel comes out on top for fuel-efficiency over hybrid, and American drivers know this very well and so we presume they would be in more favor of the latter.

Motor Trend reached out to Ford about when these new powertrains will become available as an option for the F-150, and while there was no answer for the Hybrid, Ford did say they are able to bring diesel engines to the range quickly because its impressvie powertrain portfolio. We can only assume the delay of the hybrid model is because it takes far longer to implement this sort of technology, as a number of things have to be redesigned to accommodate the batteries and electric motors.
