It looks like Microsoft’s aggressive Xbox One price cuts during the Holiday season has paid off in a big way for the company. We now have confirmation from the NPD that Microsoft has outsold Sony for the first time this year in the Xbox One Vs PS4 November 2014 sales.
Prior to this, Sony were on a record streak by managing to sell more PS4 units than Xbox One for 10 months in a row month on month. Now though, Microsoft has earned a crucial victory during the Shopping season and the main reason for this has to be seen in the amazing prices that we witnessed last month.
Microsoft themselves issued an official price cut by $50 during the Holiday Season, allowing gamers to pick up a new Xbox One console for $349. Then retailers such as Walmart and Best Buy took this into their own hands by offering a $329 Xbox One bundle with Assassin’s Creed Unity or the Halo Master Chief Collection.
That is such a good price, so we’re not entirely surprised that gamers couldn’t refuse. Only hours ago, we told you that Microsoft were continuing the aggressive pricing, by again offering a new Xbox One bundle for $349 but this time with a choice of free game from a list of 20 – AAA games included.
How can Sony compete with that if Microsoft are simply giving gamers an unbeatable deal? It will be interesting to see if Sony can come back in December, although we have a feeling that Microsoft’s continuing Xbox One bundles at low prices may help to sway the sales in their favor again.
Sony has yet to offer a similar ‘crazy’ PS4 bundle for the Holiday season or Christmas period in the US and UK. The fact that Microsoft has won November though could lead to some big announcements though in the coming days.
Give us your reaction to this – did you predict that Microsoft would win the November sales or not?
