Lenovo LS-15 AC power cord recall and remedy

Lenovo has issued a recall for 500,000 of its LS-15 AC power cords in the U.S. and 44,000 in Canada. The reason this cord model is being recalled is due to a potential fire and burn risk. Affected cords are those manufactured between February 2011 and December 2011.

However, these cords were distributed with IdeaPad brand B-, G-, S-, U-, V, along with Z-series and Lenovo brand B-, G- and V-series laptops. It is only the black power cords affected and you will notice the marking LS-15 has been molded onto the AC adapter end of the cord.

To help you determine if your power cord is affected by this new recall, you need to look out for the manufacture date code, which appears in the format REV: 00 YYMM found on the label on the cord.

Thankfully, there have been no reports of injury, although there is still a high risk and so you are asked to contact Lenovo where you will be sent a free power cord. You should stop using the cord right away and run on battery power, until the battery runs out that is.

You can contact Lenovo at (800) 426-7378 or visit the website and fill out this form.
