The Jaguar F-type will be in good company in 2016 because this is when the Maserati Alfieri will come to market, and we can expect a very tough showdown between these two sports cars. To make this competition even tougher there will also be a convertible version in 2017.
The name for this new vehicle is not yet set in stone because this is its concept name, although Maserati is more than likely to stick with it. The marketing director for the company, James Cowan said that he does not expect the Alfieri to sell in high numbers, but believes it will be as desirable as the F-type, along with the Porsche 911.
Sales numbers are expected to hit around 75,000 cars by 2018, as Maserati believes the halo effect of this model will make customers want to have a piece of something special. However, we have seen the negative effect some of their vehicles have had over the past few years, and so Maserati needs to do something different – looking at the images we believe the Alfieri could very well be it.
The Maserati Alfieri engine is something very special, as it is a 3.0-litre V6 and turbo-charged, producing 404 horsepower, although there will be 444 and 513 horsepower versions available as well.
