iPhone 6S camera with DSLR quality?

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus has only been on the market for a couple of months but that does not mean Apple will let the grass grow beneath its feet, as the company is already working on the 2015 models. We suspect these to be the S models and from what we hear their cameras will get a significant upgrade.

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus camera upgrade – There are rumors that we could see the biggest camera jump ever as it is said to incorporate a two-lens system, much like we have seen with the HTC One M8 released earlier this year.

According to John Gruber he said that the next-generation iPhone will use two lenses and that it will offer DLSR quality, which we have to say is a very big claim indeed.

We are not certain as to who will help provide this technology, but Gruber believes it could be Corephotonics, as they already have a decent two-lens setup, which you can see in the video below. Each has a separate focal length and can switch from one lens to another to magnify distant subjects, which means there is no need for an optical zoom, something that has been an issue for most smartphones.

For years Apple was left behind with its camera tech on its iPhone range, but it’s only been over the past 3 years that they have started to take things far more seriously, especially as more of us are ditching our compact cameras in favor of the one built into our smartphones.

The camera on the iPhone 6 and its larger sibling is said to be one of the best out of all the smartphones, although this is still open for debate.
