The Nexus 9 is finally official after months of speculation and now we know that the Nexus 9 pre-order release time is going to be happening in a matter of hours, rather than days.
Consumers are going to be in for a treat, as Google has already said on their website that Nexus 9 pre-orders will begin on October 17, before first delivery takes place on November 9. Whether that date applies to Google exclusively, or whether retailers will also open up their orders on the same day however, remains to be seen.
It seems more logical for Google to first open up orders on the Google Play store on Friday, followed by retailers at the start of next week. Then again, if retailers are offering at the same time it obviously gives consumers a better chance of getting hold of stock at the first opportunity.
We don’t know the exact Nexus 9 release time yet for first orders, but Google has traditionally started sales directly after midnight, so be prepared to stay up through the night potentially.
What we can tell you is the Nexus 9 price as Google has already given fans a complete heads-up. Just like the Nexus 6 pricing though, there is a price hike for the tablet range too which you may not be happy about.
The Nexus 9 is going to be available in 16GB and 32GB storage options – priced at $399 for the 16GB WiFi model, $479 for the 32GB WiFi model and $599 for a premium 32GB LTE model.
Compared to the cheapest Nexus 7 2013 tablet which was $229 at retail, that is a significant increase either way you look at it – $150 extra for two extra inches of display space?
Android 5.0 Lollipop on board is obviously a lovely incentive, as is the 2.3GHz NVIDIA K1 Tegra processor as widely reported prior to the announcement.
Are you willing to agree to Google’s new price increase though? Traditionally, the best feature of the Nexus 7 tablet was its amazing price point – can we still say the same about the Nexus 9?
Keep checking Google’s Play listing as the pre-order time could go live at midnight on October 17.
