iOS 9 ideas in concept

By Peter Chubb - Sep 24, 2014

It’s now been almost a week since iOS 8 was released, and while some of the features are very welcome, I have not been blown away. Most iOS users will not allow this to put them off and will still continue to use the mobile OS and the devices they are installed on. While some of you will think it is too early to start thinking about next year’s update, this does not stop any of us thinking of a few iOS 9 ideas, and there is already a concept video of this.

Ok, we say it is a concept video of iOS 9, but from what we can make out, it is what one YouTube user had hoped to see on iOS 8 and an iPhone with an edge-to-edge display. Speaking of that particular handset, it is not going to happen with the iPhone 6S, and so we may have to wait until the iPhone 7 in 2016.

iOS 9 concept ideas

In the first video going over a few iOS 9 features, one that has come up again is to cancel a text message. It seems strange that we are now on such a high version of iOS, yet there is now text message retrieval service to get rid of a text you sent by accident. Some of his other ideas start to get a little bit out there, but it is funny listening to what he has to say.

That second video is what we already spoke about earlier, in which it looks at the ideas that should have come with iOS 8, but could expect to see with iOS 9. We have no doubt that more videos on this topic will crop up on YouTube in the coming months.

iOS 9 rumors are not going to happen for a while yet, but TechRadar has come up with a few suggestions of their own, and we have to say, some of them are highly likely. They cover various features, such as Apple Maps improvements, making Siri a bit more human, the ability to hide apps you cannot install, along with making some third-party apps default ones.

These are just a few ideas, although we would love to know what your ideas for iOS 9 would be.

Kinda like the first idea in the first video. The rest of the ideas in the first idea not so much. Especially the last one, which doesn’t make sense to tell a Siri counterpart to tell Siri when the only difference is better vocal recognition when they could implement that into Siri. Second video I like everything but only as additional options. Kinda feel like the multitask animation would upset people due to the delay in showing the app page. What I want
    1) spoken notifications through headset. So when you get a text message Siri says to you that you have a new message, would you like to hear it? You can say yes no or remind me in x minutes and shell do what you say. If you say yes she will read you the message and ask if you want to reply.
    2) ability for apps to upload custom dynamic wallpapers and ringtones and upload pictures to the wallpaper settings. If you download a picture to use as a wallpaper and don’t want to see it in your photos. It should still be retained by the wallpaper settings for later use.
    3) pay through Siri. It would be cool if you could tell Siri to order you a cheese pizza from some place and she will place the order, ask if you want anything else etc etc. than she fellas you the cost and you use Touch ID to verify and pay including the tip. Pizza on its way.
    4) custom themes for app. Apps can use a custom theme set by the user in settings across multiple apps including messages.
    5) Apple should have an API that allows apps to tell the device what service it is. That way you can say to sirk that you want to watch a movie and Siri will access your Netflix or Hulu and get that movie ready.
    6) airdrop should be accessible to anyone with out needing to have to unlock the phone first to receive it.
    7) contacts apps should have a profile for each person with a social network attached. So a tab incthn contacts will show people general information from Facebook such as posts and pictures from that person.
    8) folder in folder. More necessary for apps such as iWork.
    9) facetime- we should be able to continue to facetime a person when we leave the facetime app. That way we can do something in our phone such as play a game against that person while they are face timing us or work on our devices while face timing our special someone.
    10) if apple doesn’t want to do custom themes than they should have a dark mode on the device.
    11) uploading file’s through safari. People who need to upload flukes on lnee for school should be able to click upload and a list of apps show up and you select an app and choose what to upload.
    12) photos app should plug in to your social network so that you can see all of your albums and comments.
    13) we should be able to text Siri. Not through messages but through spotlight or by holding the home button.
    14) clearer pictures when zooming in on a photo.
