We may have seen some exciting announcements from Apple with regards to the brand new iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch products, but two devices that we didn’t see of course were the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 tablets.
Apple’s event was already longer than anyone expected and just imagine how much longer it would have been if Apple were to bring two new iPads to the event as well – pretty crazy if that would have happened.
Traditionally though, Apple do not mix their iPhone and iPad product launches together and this week we have a reminder of analyst talk, which suggests that the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 announcements are being saved for a separate Apple event in October 2014.
This is following on from previous iPad events in October and looks like a safe bet now that Apple has finally wrapped up with their Apple Watch unveil. The new iPad models are clearly the next product on the agenda and consumers will want to see a refresh since Apple has traditionally upgraded each year.
If we are to believe rumors, it will be the iPad Air 2 that receives the most upgraded features, compared to the iPad Mini 3. These include anti-reflective coating for the cover lens, an upgrade to the A8 processor, Touch ID support, an 8 megapixel iSight camera and potentially a gold color-metal casing for the iPad Air 2.
In contrast, the only notable upgrade for the iPad Mini 3 could be Touch ID support, but we would like to think that the A8 processor and 8MP camera upgrade will be coming too.
After splashing out on the iPhone 6 Plus though at 5.5-inches this month, do you still have enough money to buy another new iPad this Holiday Season? We were very impressed with the pricing for the new 64GB and 128GB iPhone 6 Plus models, so hopefully it’s a good indication that iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 pricing will be affordable as well.
Are you still very excited about buying a new iPad 2014 model, or will you now save your money for a new iPhone 6 and keep your existing iPad for another year?
