We had a feeling that the Mario Kart 8 Mercedes DLC would open the floodgates for Nintendo to think about adding other guest items into the game and it looks like it has been confirmed as such. Nintendo is planning to drop some major Mario Kart 8 Zelda DLC into the upcoming racer, including a playable Link that you can purchase.
You heard that correctly, Link is going to be in Mario Kart 8 but you will have to pay for the luxury of racing as him against the likes of Mario, Donkey Kong and Bowser.
In what is likely to be the start of a standard new trend for Nintendo, Link is going to be available as DLC this November. In fact we even have the Mario Kart 8 Zelda DLC release date and price for you already, as Nintendo has confirmed it will be available on November 30, 2014.
The price will be $7.99 for those in the US and £7 for gamers in the UK. For that price, it won’t just include Link though. You’ll also get access to Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, 4 new themed vehicles and 8 extra tracks including a track from the Legend of Zelda.
That is quite a lot of content for $7.99 so hopefully you will be happy with Nintendo’s pricing. It’s somewhat strange that Nintendo are now entering the DLC game with Mario Kart – are we going to see it next with Super Smash Bros and Pokemon?
Let us know your thoughts on the Link DLC pack for Mario Kart 8, will you buy it this November? We’ll let you know when a trailer is out.
