It’s that time again for PlayStation owners now, as Sony will soon be revealing the PS Plus September 2014 update free games for PS4 and PS3 owners. With this in mind, we continue with our predictions just as we did last month although we could have some likely contenders based on upcoming release dates.
At the end of July, we correctly identified Road not Taken as one of the free games that was offered with the PS Plus August update. We included it in our initial predictions thread for July weeks before Sony made the announcement and now we can offer up some good odds again on at least two games that may be considered for selection.
Although we loved the likes of Towerfall and Fez, we can still see a lot of you begging Sony not to offer any more indie games and to instead introduce a full ‘retail’ title for once.
September may be the month that Sony does it and don’t be surprised if the following games are included:
Sherlock Holmes Crime and Punishment – This game has a release schedule for the beginning of September, meaning that we can’t rule it out as a possible candidate. We’ve seen from Sony’s previous release trends that they like to mix in games that are brand new as well as slightly older games, but Sherlock Holmes would definitely be fresh out of the blocks.
It’s also a game that was inspired by the amazing BBC Sherlock series, so it could be one to look out for, for those that love puzzle solving and crime games. Anyone remember the excellent X-Files game all those years ago with Mulder and Scully?
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate – This is an action game that is on the way from Koei, the team behind the Dynasty Warriors series. This game is actually a mashup between Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, so if you love endless hack and slash adventures, this could be one potential game to look forward to as it’s also out at the beginning of September.
Guacamelee – Guacamelee should be game that some are already familiar with, especially Xbox One owners. The game was actually offered on Xbox One as part of Games with Gold for July. There’s plenty of rumors suggesting that it’s now up for consideration at Sony offices for PS Plus September 2014 and it should provide a ‘healthy’ debate if it is selected.
Outside Chance! Octodad: Dadliest Catch – We thought that this hilarious game would actually be chosen for August’s update, but again the slippery Octodad managed to elude us for another month. Will September finally be the month when Sony offers it for free? It would be a fantastic choice if it was chosen and a perfect game to inject some humor into September’s update.
What do you think of these choices if they were to be officially chosen by Sony? Out of these four picks, which two would you most like to see become official releases and why?
