After Xbox One’s Fall 2014 update

Now that the dust has settled on the excellent Xbox One August update which added 3D Blu-Ray support amongst other things, gamers are now looking forward to the already announced Xbox One Fall 2014 update.

Microsoft though are already planning ahead, with boss Phil Spencer keen to offer even more ways to make the Xbox One experience amazing and from their point of view – better than what is currently offered by Sony with the PlayStation 4.

By now, most Xbox One owners will be aware that Sony has a feature on the way called Share Play, a feature that allows friends to join in on games without owning a copy of the title in question. It’s also a feature which critics are labelling as a ‘game changer’, so naturally Microsoft will have to come up with a way to compete and show that Xbox is still superior.

In a revealing interview with Engadget, Phil Spencer has been talking about potential features that could make it to Xbox One after the Fall update, so either before the end of 2014 or the early stages of 2015.

These include features such as DLNA which still isn’t on the PS4, integrating Windows Phone personal assistant Cortana onto the Xbox One dashboard and even possibly introducing a similar feature to Steam’s Early Access Program, for Xbox One.

We think that all three of these features would be amazing on Xbox One, especially given that all are currently unavailable on PS4. If Microsoft could pull DLNA off before Sony, then that would provide a nice contrast in terms of rival features between the two consoles after Sony’s Share Play launches.

Read the full interview through the link and then let us know what you would love to see on Xbox One next. Do you love the idea of Microsoft putting Cortana on Xbox One, as well as something similar to Steam’s Early Access Program?

Perhaps EA Early Access is Microsoft’s way of testing the water before something massive lands in 2015. Either way, it’s a great time to be a console gamer it seems with both Microsoft and Sony pushing each other all the way in order to claim top spot.
