We are just potentially hours away from the anticipated and expected PS4 1.75 release time. Sony promised last week that the update would be going live this week and it will finally bring one feature to users that should have been available when the console launched last year.
Of course we are talking about PS4 3D Blu-Ray support and it will be available at last when the PS4 1.75 firmware goes live. Many gamers are saying that Sony were ‘forced’ into the decision after Microsoft unveiled their own plans to offer 3D Blu-Ray support with the Xbox One August update, but regardless of what talks went on behind the scenes – it’s win win for gamers.
It essentially means that your 3D copy of Gravity and other hit movies will work straight out of the box and you finally have another reason to justify that expensive 3D TV purchase.
Sony has not yet revealed a set release time for when the update will go live, but history tells us that it could happen just after midnight time in the US. Then again, Sony has also been known to surprise everyone with sporadic release times for their software updates, so you may want to stay on your toes when we get to midnight on Monday.
Sony are teasing 3D Blu-Ray support as the main feature for the 1.75 update, but let’s hope that there are some other nice goodies to look forward to as well. We are not expecting DLNA to arrive just yet, but a native YouTube PS4 app will be a nice surprise after such a long period waiting.
Are you delighted that you will soon be able to use your PS4 as a 3D Blu-Ray player? For fun, let us know what 3D Blu-Rays you have lined up ready to test out as the first movie to see if everything works properly.
