That’s right, Snapchat Geofilters is now available and before you get too excited, we would just like to point out that only users in LA and NY are able to use this new feature – for now anyway. The feature has been tested for a while now, so great to see it finally released, albeit limited
How to turn Snapchat Geofilters on – To enable this feature on your iPhone all you need to do is go to your phone settings, then Privacy, Location Services, make sure this is on and scroll down to make sure that the Snapchat app is set to on. The process is pretty straight forward on Android devcies.
The final steps are to open the Snapchat app and then select settings in the top right hand corner, which appears as a small cog. You then have to select Manage, and then turn on Filters, which will then enable geofilters.
Once this is done then all you need to do to enjoy this new feature is to take a picture and then swipe left or right, which you can see a demonstration of in the video below.
There are those of you who believe that Snapchat may start to monetize geofilters because if you take an image in Manhattan or Brooklyn different geofilters will appear.
Once again, before you ask what locations do Snapchat Geofilters work in, it is just Los Angeles and New York, which is a kick in the teeth for other Snapchat users who wish to take advantage of this feature. At this moment in time, we have no idea when the service will be spread to other parts of the US.
