HTC One M8 Android L update, not M8

The Nexus 5 and 7 were two of the devices that came with Android L developer preview support from the start, but it didn’t take long before devs started to work their magic and increase support to other devices, although with mixed results.

It was last week that we saw the Nexus 4 given limited support, and now we can see the HTC One running Android L. It is worth pointing out that this is the 2013 model, and not this year’s M8. We do wonder why a port has not been created for the M8 seeing as though it is this year’s flagship model from HTC and would be able to handle the software much easier?

However, seeing as though this is an unofficial port there is no order in which they get released, and so Android users have to make do with what is given to them. So far that means there are now four Android L supported devices, although only two officially.

Teething problems – According to XDA Developers there are several features that will not work on the HTC One if you do install the Android L port, such as mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and several sensors.

Having said that, we do not expect it will be long before devs have got all these features working, and so you will just have to play the waiting game.

Details on how to download and install this port can be found by visiting the XDA Forum.
