Nexus 5 vs. Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 visual showcase

By Peter Chubb - Apr 27, 2014

The Nexus 5 was released towards the end of last year, but with it being an Android handset sporting the latest version of the OS, it was obvious that it was going to be compared to the two new kids on the block, the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8. You would think that the Nexus 5 would loose out to the new contenders, but you might be surprised.

Below we have embedded three videos for your viewing pleasure, the first compares the Nexus 5 to the Galaxy S5, then second, the Nexus 5 to the HTC One M8, and the third and final one, the Samsung Galaxy S5 to the HTC One M8.

Nexus 5 vs. Galaxy S5 comparison video – This first video runs for just over twelve and a half minutes and looks into many aspects of each handset, such as how the TouchWiz UI compares to that of a stock Android device.

There is no getting away from the fact that Samsung’s new S5 is a breathe of fresh air for the brand, even though it lacks the radical design change we were promised. However, the Nexus 5 looks dated when placed next to Samsung’s flagship smartphone.

Having said that, the design is not the important factor here, and so the first video review does not base its comparison on looks, but rather what lies beneath.

Nexus 5 vs. HTC One M8 – The second video looks at how the Nexus 5 holds up against the HTC One M8, and while many of you will agree that it is a bit unfair to compare a phone several months older compared to a newly released model, it is surprising just how many people will still go for an older model if they do not have to sacrifice much on performance if they can save a few dollars.

This second video is different in the way that it covers all the main features, but also takes the design into account, which is very important to some of you.

Galaxy S5 vs. HTC One M8 – This is the ultimate video review comparison because they are two flagship phones. It is great to see how Samsung and HTC go about things, especially as they have been released around the same time. It is like F1, because similar tools are available to them, but the results are always going to be different.

This is an extensive video review that runs for over twenty seven minutes and covers a great deal of topics, such as design and build quality, specs, the screen and camera, call quality, battery life, gaming and a conclusion to which is the better choice.

Have you had to make the choice between these three smartphones, if so, which of the three got your money?

All that fake chrome makes the GS5 look cheap and tacky. Why do they keep doing that? The gunmetal HTC M8 looks like a something from tomorrow, while the Samsung looks like yesterday.
