The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Xbox One problems

By Alan Ng - Apr 17, 2014

We recently told you that the upcoming The Amazing Spiderman 2 game was looking very promising and could be the first decent Spiderman game to release in a long time, after constant failures in the past.

Now we bring some troubling news that can only be perceived as worrying. It looks like Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Xbox One may be cancelled. Activision has yet to confirm this but we can see that Xbox One versions are now disappearing from online retail listings and the Xbox One version has been removed from the official website.

As it stands, the game developed by Beenox will now only release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. Given that we are so close to the Amazing Spider-Man 2 release date of April 29, this is somewhat terrible news for those that had initially planned to get the game on Xbox One.

Perhaps worst of all, Activision are yet to give a reason why this has happened, or developers Beenox for that matter. Obviously something has gone wrong behind the scenes, maybe even Microsoft are not happy with the final quality of the game on Xbox One and don’t want to be put in a position where there will be complaints compared to the PS4 version.

Could it even have something to do with resolution differences between PS4 and One versions? We have seen plenty of times this year were multiplatform games have failed to hit 1080p on Xbox One until PS4 versions. Obviously we don’t know this as fact yet, but we need an official statement on this to set the story straight.

Give us your reaction to the fact that it looks like an Xbox One version may not be coming at launch. What is your personal opinion on what has happened?

playstation care about the gamers, microsoft dont, they are far more greedy. as if graphics and frame rate issues werent bad enough for xb1 😛

  • My assumption would be that it is simply not ready for the XBox One yet and rather than cause “inflammation” on an already touchy situation, they would rather take their time and get it right before releasing it to the public.

    • The game is complete on all platforms, Beenox has stated this many times. The issue here is that the Xbox One version had major bugs in it during testing that caused it to be delayed, possibly indefinitely.

The real worry is there are only two weeks left until the game launches. Nothing was said until TODAY and Beenox has been saying it’d be out on Xbox One as recent as April 13th. Thus, they didn’t know either until today. The question here? Why are they just NOW testing the game for major bugs instead of doing so long ago? Amazon is still taking preorders, for example.
