Mario Kart 8 Wii U in May, a system seller?

By Alan Ng - Jan 30, 2014

We have a heads-up on the highly anticipated Mario Kart 8 release date on Wii U to tell you about now, straight from Nintendo’s mouth. While the company has been silent on issues regarding the Pokemon X and Y Pokebank release, they have been a lot more generous on Mario Kart 8 information.

Previously, we knew that the release status for the game was ‘Spring 2014’, but we’re pleased to give you a specific update on this. Nintendo has been speaking in Japan about the Wii U’s future after recent financial worries, but more importantly confirmed that Mario Kart 8 will definitely be available in May.

It also means that the rumored release date that we told you about here referencing an April release, was in fact incorrect.

Hopefully Nintendo will be able to give us the true release date soon, but it’s great to at least hear some form of communication with their fans – as we all know that this is key.

We would also like to get an early heads-up on the full Mario Kart 8 roster.

Do you believe Mario Kart 8 will be a hardware seller to drive Nintendo through a rough patch at the start of the year? Let us know if you will be picking it up upon release.
